The regular clips won’t work through the mesh of the gutter guard. I tried adhesive clips but they didn’t stay up in the rain we had yesterday. Any great ideas? (besides staples)

Snow shouldn’t make too much difference to your gutterguard. Hail on the other hand can damage it.
